5 Basic Office Cleaning Tips

Here are 5 basic office cleaning tips to use for your business.

  • Dusting. One of the first steps in your cleaning process around the office would be dusting. Although this may be optional to some people it is one of the first crucial points. The idea is to start high & work your way down. Dust can accumulate rather quickly, especially around windows, blinds, desks, computer screens, books, etc. By getting this task accomplished first, it brings all the dust & dirt to the floor for vacuuming later & saves you from doing twice the work later on.
  • Garbage. Collecting office garbage is a never-ending step that needs to be done regularly. From paper items, recyclables to food, this can get nasty if not done regularly. Consolidating smaller cans into a bigger bulk can (with wheels preferably) makes the job much easier.
  • Bathrooms. Probably the least desirable of all office cleaning tasks has got to be…bathrooms. However, when done correctly, this can really make things shine & is probably one of the main reasons why businesses like to hire a cleaning company. From urinals to toilets, Sinks & mirrors, using a good professional bleach-based cleaner for those porcelain surfaces will help kill the majority of bacteria & bring a clean shine to the finished product. A good glass cleaner (such as Windex) is fine for getting those mirrors spot free.
  •  Vacuuming. Now that the dusting has already been done, you are ready to pick up all the remaining dirt with a good vacuuming. Remember to change your bags regularly, as with office cleaning you will go through them more regularly than a basic home cleaning. Some businesses may opt for an occasional by yearly or annual carpet cleaning as well.
  • Mopping. Finally, mopping is usually the final phase of office cleaning. Be sure to clean your mop heads regularly. Depending on the layout of the offices, you will soon be able to determine the best way to maneuver your pattern of mopping, so that it is an efficient way of not trapping yourself in & having to lose time waiting for the floors to dry. Portable fans are an excellent way to speed up your drying time. This goes just as well with carpet cleaning; they make industrial-sized heater fans that really cut down on carpet drying time. Along with carpet cleaning, a lot of businesses with tile floors or a showroom especially, will opt for an annual or semi-annual floor buffing treatment. This can be a nice up sell service for your cleaning business. If  your staff is incapable of doing a service such as this, you can always subcontract it out to a floor buffing service.

Following these tips can get you started with an efficient routine for your cleaning process. Every cleaning business has its own unique services, products and techniques that they use. These are just a few basic tips that we have discussed. If you have any further cleaning tips that you would like to share with us, feel free to leave your comments below. Thank you.
